Why Should I consider a cruise ?

Why Should I consider a cruise ?

For my part, I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travel's sake. The great affair is to move.

Addiction

It’s not hard to get hooked on cruising, I mean what’s not to like? Food, Drinks and Vice are abundant all whilst steaming you towards tropical and landmark destinations. You mean to tell me I can book an all inclusive hotel that floats and takes me places? SIGN ME UP!

It’s no wonder cruising is gaining popularity and is ever increasing capacity year after year. There are over 100 mega ships on order currently and that number is growing by the day. Cruising is poised to be the number one vacation and why woulde’t it be. What is not to like?

Attraction

40 years ago when ships were tiny there was a very small market, the attraction was the destinations. Why take a multi day cruise when I could get to that same destination in under 3 hours. Today that has all changed, the ship itself is the destination. You can find almost anything on ships nowadays from bowling alleys to go cart tracks, bumper cars to water slides, skydiving simulators to skating rinks, laser tag to escape rooms, ropes courses to roller coasters………. OK, You get the point. EVERYTHING.

Attention

So I have your attention now? If you never have been on a cruise it is a must try. I would highly recommend taking a decent size ship for a spin. Most people make the mistake of not choosing the right ship for them, they choose the older “party” ships from carnival or the ancient 2-4 ships from Royal Caribbean. Here is a few 3-4 day options I recommend if you just want to “dip your toes in”

  • Royal Caribbean “Navigator of the seas or Mariner of the seas”

  • Norwegian Sky (older but still fun)

  • Disney Dream (expensive but you will be hooked)

  • Celebrity Infinity

Of course there are a lot of 7 nights to try and I would just recommend a 5 year old or newer ship on one of the mainstream cruise lines. Seasickness you say? then try the “Oasis” class ships from Royal Caribbean, they are so big they barely move. You can find a more in depth review on cruise lines HERE.
